Summer...no school, a great time to just kick back and relax...but doesn't
that get a little boring after a few days? Why not make a job for yourself?
That way you can bust the boredom bubble and have some extra cash to do
have more fun! Cleaning decks can actually be a great place to start. Here
are a few tips to get you started.

Summer time is a good period for the tiny ones to multiply... and I am
talking about bacteria and moss. The heat and moisture helps them thrive
and you'll be surprised with the rate they do it too! Therefore, teens
should take advantage of it and clean decks for a summer job. They can earn
a little cold hard cash by cleaning decks for relatives, friends and
neighbors, instead of just loitering around doing nothing all day. In fact,
many people will be more than eager to pay teenagers to clean their decks
instead of doing it themselves.

Spreading the word around
Once a discussion and agreement's been reached between your parents and
you, you can start to spread the report around by, first, informing your
friends that you're looking for jobs cleaning decks this summer. Word gets
around really quickly this way, don't be surprised. One friend will tell
another and one will tell their parents and one parent will tell another
and a parent will tell a relative... etc.

In fact, with tools like the phone, email and instant messengers, the
story can get around really at the speed of light. For those with their own
websites, blogs or myspace or multiply websites can broadcast the word
around even quicker. Many people use the Internet to find information and
sources these days.

Post ads to let others know that you're cleaning decks for the
summer
There are two ways to do this. One, the conventional method
of posting ads... via the newspaper. Putting an ad up is not expensive and
if you place an ad for a whole week, the cost would be even less. You don't
have to have fancy graphics (one would be fine) to illustrate what a good
deck cleaner you are. All you need to put is your contact information and
let them know that you're available for deck washing.

Another way to do this is to post it in the websites of a local search
engine or maybe on free classifieds sections. Various home improvement
websites provide this service for free as well, so, it wouldn't hurt to
just look around for ways to get the message out this way.

Handing out simple leaflets
Open up a spreadsheet program like Microsoft word or Microsoft Publisher
and get started on writing a brief intro about the importance of cleaning
decks during the summer and you're now offering deck cleaning services.
Don't forget to include your contact information. Print it out and get it
photocopied by bulk. You can either cut it into smaller pieces yourself
with a simple paper cutter or the stationery store can do it for you for a
small fee.

Take a day to walk around the neighborhood handing out these leaflets!
Before you know it, you'll earn pocket money by cleaning decks during the
summer!
